IT security from Identity Management

Thank you for taking a moment to look at our guide to extracting security benefits from identity management / user provisioning software. It takes the form of a white paper titled "A guide for security managers and auditors to the security benefits which can be derived from the implementation of User Provisioning software".

If you click on this link or the image, the next page will be a short form containing, most importantly, a space for your email address to which we shall send a link to the document itself.

White paper: A guide for security managers and auditors to the security benefits which can be derived from the implementation of User Provisioning software

Abstract

Despite very real threats from outside the firewall, a lack of sound internal processes and procedures may pose an even greater risk to the security of the enterprise.

Secure Identity Management and user provisioning, in particular, are currently receiving much media attention due to the demonstrable Return on Investment (RoI) and other efficiency benefits that such software solutions provide. Despite the obvious financial benefits, however, the main drivers for the implementation of user provisioning software (centralized user administration, password synchronization and access control) should still be security and audit related.

Successful implementation of a user provisioning solution delivers a number of security benefits, the most obvious of which is the knowledge that only those users who should have access to applications do so, and that they do so at the appropriate access security level.

This White Paper provides a detailed description of the security and audit related features and benefits of user provisioning software, and uses one such package – COSuser from OSM – as an example.
