Press Release

Energy conglomerate switches to OSM's COSuser for advanced user management solution.

SEATTLE, WA, USA. February 14, 2001

Open Systems Management Inc. (OSM), a leading, independent supplier of systems management software, today announced that one of the world’s largest electricity, natural gas and communications companies has selected its COSuser product to automate user administration on 400 servers throughout its North American data centers.

With revenues in excess of $60 billion, the energy conglomerate produces electricity and natural gas, develops, constructs and operates energy facilities worldwide, and delivers physical commodities, financial and risk management services to customers around the world. "We needed a solution to the ever increasing challenge of managing a large and highly dynamic user population", said a representative of the IT group. "With COSuser we hope to provide greater automation, delegation and control of the user management workload and an added plus will be the detailed audit information showing us which information systems our users really have access to". Neil Chaney, OSM’s President and CEO, remarked, "We are very pleased that such a leading energy giant has chosen COSuser to improve its control of user administration".

COSuser enables IT organizations to radically improve the user management processes through which users are given access to operating systems, databases and applications. COSuser enhances enterprise security with features such as role-based access control and password synchronization and improves productivity by increasing automation and delegation. UNIX, Windows NT and resident applications are supported through modular, plug-in Target Knowledge Bases (COSuser TKBs) that consolidate user administration to a central point of management.
