Press Release

Major financial institution banks on OSM's COSuser to enhance user management and access control.

SEATTLE, WA, USA. January 10, 2001

Open Systems Management Inc. (OSM), a leading, independent supplier of systems management software, today announced that one of the UK's largest financial institutions has selected its COSuser product to automate user administration throughout its UK data centers. COSuser will provide greater automation, delegation and control of the user management workload and, at the same time, provide detailed audit information about which users have access to which information systems.

With group assets approaching £200 billion and more 50,000 employees worldwide, the organization is one of the leading UK-based financial services groups, whose businesses provide a comprehensive range of banking and financial services in the UK and overseas.

With an ever-increasing user population, resulting from a number of successful acquisitions and mergers, keeping track of user accounts and security is an increasingly challenging task. "With COSuser we hope to greatly improve and speed-up the processes of granting and revoking user rights and through its role based system we will be able to quickly ascertain who's got access to what", said the organization's Group IT Security representative. "We have a long standing relationship with OSM and believe that upgrading to COSuser will enhance security, improve service levels and reduce operations costs." Neil Chaney, OSM’s President and CEO commented, "We have always been proud of the relationship OSM have had with this financial institution and are now very pleased that they have chosen COSuser."

COSuser enables IT organizations to radically improve the user management processes through which users are given access to operating systems, databases and applications. COSuser enhances enterprise security with features such as role-based access control and password synchronization and improves productivity by increasing automation and delegation. UNIX, Windows NT and resident applications are supported through modular, plug-in Target Knowledge Bases (COSuser TKBs) that consolidate user administration to a central point of management.
